On the server: * apt-get install openssh-server #you most likely already have this On the client: * Connect and establish port tunnel: ssh -D locahost:51080 user@host * Configure your browser, FTP client, etc. to use socks5 proxy, host=localhost, port=51080 Enjoy! Did you know that opensshd can do this out of the box, with no help from Dante?

On the server:

* apt-get install openssh-server #you most likely already have this

On the client:

* Connect and establish port tunnel: ssh -D locahost:51080 user@host
* Configure your browser, FTP client, etc. to use socks5 proxy, host=localhost, port=51080
